Job summary

Irvine Company Apartment Communities is seeking aspiring Service Technicians in Training. The role offers a paid training path to develop maintenance skills, with base pay $21.50–$24.50 per hour. We will train you if you have general maintenance or handyman experience.

This is a hands-on training program in California, with opportunities to shadow experienced pros, learn drywall, plumbing, appliance diagnostics, and preventive maintenance, and support managing apartment unit turns.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license and auto insurance are required.
• Clear and effective English communication, both verbal and written; multilingual a plus.
• On-call duties for after-hours emergencies; weekends/holidays/evenings may be required.
• Regular consistent and timely attendance is expected.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, climb stairs and ladders; lifting and carrying.
• Push/pull up to 118 lbs; lift up to 77 lbs from the floor and 45 lbs overhead.
• Must complete and pass pulmonary exam and respirator fit test.

Responsibilities

• Training to become a Service Technician with online learning and hands-on shadowing.
• Perform drywall repair and general maintenance tasks.
• Plumbing tasks including disposals & drains, toilet repair and installation.
• Refrigerator and other appliance diagnostics; dishwasher and microwave diagnostics.
• HVAC introductory tasks and preventive maintenance.
• Manage work orders and ensure safety and customer experience.

Training Program Summary

You will be provided with a variety of tools and resources to become a Service Technician. You can expect to complete online learning job shadow other maintenance professionals and get side by side hands on training.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations

• Valid driver’s license valid vehicle insurance
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Multilingual ability a plus.
• On call required for after hours emergencies Schedule may require work on weekends holidays and evenings.

• Ability to move in and out of a variety of positions which include the following: sitting standing walking squatting stair and ladder climbing kneeling belly crawling overhead reaching lifting carrying.

• Ability to lift below waist up to 77 lbs and above waist 45 lbs.
• Must complete and pass pulmonary exam and respirator fit test.

Compensation

Base Pay Start Rate: $21.50 - $24.50
