Job summary

CV-Tek in Elgin, IL is seeking a hands-on Welding Supervisor to lead our 2nd shift welding team. You will perform TIG welding, mentor welders, and ensure high-quality cosmetic finishes on stainless steel food-packaging equipment.

This role blends hands-on fabrication with supervision, training, safety, and continuous improvement, with regular coordination with 1st shift leadership and a focus on building a culture of excellence.

Qualifications

• Strong TIG welding experience.
• Experience welding stainless steel.
• Previous leadership, lead person, or supervisory experience.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Commitment to quality and safety.
• Preferred: Supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Food equipment manufacturing experience.
• Fabrication experience.
• Welding certifications.
• Experience developing and mentoring junior welders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small 2nd Shift manufacturing team consisting of welders and CNC machinists
• Perform hands-on TIG welding and fabrication work
• Ensure all work meets CV-Tek's quality and cosmetic standards
• Support production priorities and coordinate with 1st Shift leadership
• Train and develop less experienced welders
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance
• Enforce safety requirements and best practices
• Coach employees and hold them accountable for performance, attendance, quality, and safety expectations
• Foster a positive and professional team environment
• Help drive continuous improvement throughout the operation
