Job summary

Exploreelginarea is seeking a 2nd Shift Welding Supervisor in Elgin, IL to lead a TIG welding team on stainless steel food processing equipment. You will drive productivity, ensure food-grade quality, and foster a safe, efficient shift.

Responsibilities include directing 2nd shift welding and fabrication operations, reviewing blueprints, coaching welders, and maintaining high cosmetic finishes. Pay is $32.00–$36.00 per hour, with Temp-to-Hire or Direct Hire options.

Qualifications

• 8+ years welding and fabrication experience, including 4+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Expert TIG welding experience with 303 and 304 stainless steel and the ability to maintain high cosmetic finish standards.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• High school diploma or GED; welding certification preferred.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee 2nd shift welding and fabrication operations to maximize productivity, quality, and equipment utilization.
• Ensure all stainless-steel assemblies meet food-grade welding, grinding, cosmetic, and tolerance requirements while achieving production schedules.
• Manage labor, materials, equipment, and departmental resources to support cost reduction and operational efficiency.
• Lead, coach, and support welding team members through problem-solving, training, performance accountability, and policy administration.
• Promote a safe work environment by maintaining housekeeping standards and continuously improving safety practices.
