GATX Corporation in Terre Haute is offering a hands-on internship for high school seniors to gain safety, quality, and technical skills in railcar maintenance. Trainees will assist with repairing and cleaning GATX-owned railcars, including valve and coil maintenance and basic inspections.

Participants will learn through structured tasks, be exposed to welding basics, and develop an overall understanding of maintenance operations within a railcar service environment.

Qualifications

• Broad mechanical aptitude.
• Basic welding skills preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to read and adhere to policies, safety, and quality procedures.
• Ability to communicate in English and work well in a team.

Responsabilités

• Assist Railcar Mechanic in repairs to meet safety, quality, and production needs, including removing/replacing components to access parts.
• Maintain valves and coils, follow safety rules, and ensure quality per guidelines.
• Perform cleaning duties on railcars, including sampling, positioning, and removing excess material.
• Receive training in quality, safety, railcar mechanics, valve & coil, and cleaning processes.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
