GATX Corporation in Terre Haute, IN is seeking an Apprentice Railcar Mechanic who will assist the Railcar Mechanic in repairing GATX-owned railcars and learn advanced skills. You will read blueprints and repair manuals, document repairs, and work with AAR rules.

The role includes night shift hours on Sundays to Thursdays, with on-the-job welding training and opportunities to pursue welding and NDT certifications. Competitive pay and benefits begin on day one.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Welding training is a plus but not required.
• Mechanically inclined with basic hand tool knowledge.
• Ability to read and interpret repair manuals and instructions.
• Willingness to pursue welding certifications (2G/3G/4G) and related tests.

Mansioni

• Dismantle, repair, install parts on rail cars per GATX procedures.
• Undertake minor welding work; welding training provided as needed.
• Operate equipment such as slings, hoists, forklifts to perform tasks.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
