Job summary

Scott Humphrey Corporation is seeking a Project Manager to lead ground-up retail construction projects in the Houston market. You will be hands-on from early estimating and bidding through construction and closeout, collaborating with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to keep schedules and budgets on track.

Ideal candidates bring strong PM fundamentals, deep knowledge of tilt-wall/PEMB shells, and proven estimating experience.

Qualifications

• Experience managing ground-up commercial retail construction projects.
• Knowledge of tilt-wall and PEMB construction.
• Estimating and bidding with budgets.
• Proficiency with Procore for project financials.
• Bluebeam for takeoffs.
• Knowledge of Houston-area permits and inspections.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage ground-up retail construction projects from preconstruction and estimating through execution, turnover, and closeout.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, procurement, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and overall project performance.
• Perform estimating and bidding activities for upcoming projects, including reviewing preliminary drawing sets and identifying scope gaps, constructability concerns, and potential cost impacts.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and other project stakeholders to maintain project schedules and quality standards.
• Review construction documents to identify missing details, design conflicts, and potential field issues before they impact execution.
• Manage subcontractor relationships and procurement while ensuring scopes are clearly defined and aligned with project budgets.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and financial reporting using Procore.
• Conduct regular site visits and work directly with field teams to resolve issues and keep projects moving.
• Coordinate municipal inspections, permitting requirements, and project closeout activities specific to the Houston market.
• Contribute to the continued development of project management processes and best practices within a growing construction operation.
