Job summary

Leidos seeks an Infrastructure Implementation Engineer to join the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector. You will support the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of lab and data center infrastructure for FAA modernization programs.

You own low-level design from rack elevations to as-built documentation, run design reviews, commission installations, and maintain configuration baselines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, computer science, or related field with 4+ years of relevant experience or a master’s with 2+ years.
• Demonstrated experience producing detailed infrastructure documentation.
• Practical understanding of data center or lab infrastructure: structured cabling, power distribution, rack systems, network hardware.
• Experience with commissioning, validating, or accepting infrastructure installations.
• Familiarity with networking fundamentals to make port assignments (switching, VLANs, fiber/copper media).
• Proficiency with Visio, CAD, or equivalent diagramming tools for rack layouts, floor plans, wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Develop low-level infrastructure designs from approved architectural concepts (rack elevations, wiring lists, port/patch-panel assignments, cable schedules, BOMs).
• Produce installation work packages enabling technicians to execute independently and meet auditable requirements.
• Commission new installations and own punch‑list resolution; verify state matches design intent and drive closure.
• Maintain authoritative as‑built documentation and configuration baselines with version control; trace from design to implementation to change history.
• Provide technical work direction to hardware technicians onsite and manage progress against work packages.
• Serve as engineering escalation point for physical/integration troubleshooting (L1 issues, patching, optics, power).
• Lead design reviews; present packages, defend decisions, drive findings to resolution before construction.
• Interface with procurement and engineering on hardware delivery and RMAs.
• Develop and improve engineering standards, templates, labeling schemes, and repeatable deployment processes.
• Support compliance by ensuring installations conform to security standards, network segmentation, and labeling rules.
