Job summary

HBK Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer (HBK) is seeking a hands-on HR Manager to support our Marlborough, MA and Williston, VT operations. You’ll work directly with employees and managers to maintain smooth HR processes and drive improvements across the organization.

From recruiting and employee relations to benefits, payroll collaboration, and compliance with federal and state laws, you’ll roll up your sleeves and partner with leadership to build a strong, engaged workforce.

Qualifications

• Five+ years progressive HR experience
• Experience with employee relations, recruiting, performance management, benefits, and HR administration
• Comfortable advising managers and having difficult conversations
• Can handle confidential information with discretion and judgment
• Organized enough to manage multiple priorities while focusing on people
• Clear communication, trust-building, and fairness
• Proactive, hands-on, willing to roll up sleeves
• Balance empathy with accountability in HR partnership

Responsibilities

• Be the go-to HR person for the organization
• Build relationships with employees and managers at all levels
• Answer questions, offer practical advice, and navigate workplace challenges
• Handle employee relations issues with professionalism and fairness
• Coach managers through difficult conversations and performance concerns
• Partner with hiring managers to recruit talented people
• Help new employees feel welcome and set them up for success
• Support performance reviews, goal setting, and career development
• Maintain HR policies and ensure legal compliance
• Coordinate benefits, leave administration, onboarding, and offboarding
• Support compensation reviews and incentive programs
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems
• Ensure payroll and HR processes run smoothly
