Job summary

HBK Hottinger Brüel & Kjaer (HBK) is seeking a hands-on HR Manager to support our Marlborough, MA and Williston, VT operations. You’ll work directly with employees and managers to maintain smooth HR processes and drive improvements across the organization.

From recruiting and employee relations to benefits, payroll collaboration, and compliance with federal and state laws, you’ll roll up your sleeves and partner with leadership to build a strong, engaged workforce.

Qualifications

• Five+ years progressive HR experience
• Experience with employee relations, recruiting, performance management, benefits, and HR administration

HR Manager HBK | Marlborough, Massachusetts and supporting Williston, VT Salary Range: $85,000–$100,000 annually | Full-Time

• Support compensation reviews, salary planning, and incentive programs.


• Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems.


• Work with payroll and internal partners to make sure employees are paid accurately and HR processes run smoothly.


• Help ensure compliance with federal and Massachusetts and Vermont employment laws.


• Maintain HR policies and help employees and managers understand how they apply.


• Support workplace investigations and sensitive employee matters.


• Keep up with changing employment requirements and recommend improvements when you spot a better way to do something.


• Make work better.


• Look for ways to simplify processes, improve the employee experience, and make HR more effective.


• Support employee engagement surveys and turn feedback into meaningful action.


• Help build a culture where people take ownership, work together, and feel proud of what they accomplish.

What makes you a great fit?

You don't need to have every answer memorized—but you should know how to find the right answers. We're looking for someone who:

• Has at least five years of progressive HR experience and enjoys being hands‑on.


• Has experience with employee relations, recruiting, performance management, benefits, and HR administration.


• Is comfortable advising managers and having honest, sometimes difficult conversations.


• Can handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.


• Is organized enough to manage multiple priorities without losing sight of the people behind the paperwork.


• Communicates clearly, builds trust, and treats people fairly.


• Is proactive, resourceful, and willing to roll up their sleeves rather than wait for someone else to solve the problem.


• Can balance empathy with accountability—and knows that being a good HR partner sometimes means having the tough conversation.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience in manufacturing, engineering, technology, or another technical environment.


• Experience working with an HR information system and Microsoft Office.


• A PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP certification.

Who you'll work with

You’ll report directly to the HR Director, with a dotted‑line reporting relationship to the Plant Director. You’ll be an important HR partner to local leadership while collaborating with the broader HR team to support employees and business objectives.
