Job summary

UES, a leader in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing, seeks a Field Technician I to perform field and lab testing of soils, concrete, and other construction materials. You’ll collect samples, operate testing equipment, and help ensure compliance with project specifications.

This role emphasizes hands-on training, safety, and growth, with travel to local project sites and opportunities to pursue industry certifications and advance within the team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training in related field is a plus.
• 0–3 years field-based outdoor or physically demanding experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with safe driving record; ability to operate company vehicles.
• Industry certifications such as ACI Level 1 Concrete Testing or ability to obtain within time.
• Commitment to workplace safety per OSHA standards and PPE usage.
• Basic computer proficiency: Word, Excel, Outlook; familiarity with FDC software.
• Mathematical skills to perform unit conversions and measurements accurately.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret blueprints and technical docs.
• Strong time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or with a team; flexible with schedules and travel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.
• Collect, label, and transport samples to laboratories for testing.
• Maintain testing equipment and ensure tests meet specs and safety standards.
• Document results, logs, and reports accurately and on time.
• Communicate updates with project managers and stakeholders in real time.
• Adhere to project timelines, schedules, and changing requirements.
• Support ongoing training and certification as required.
• Operate company vehicle and perform routine maintenance as needed.
