Job summary

ACC Recruiters is seeking a seasoned Controller to lead day-to-day accounting for a diverse portfolio of client businesses. This is a hands-on, leadership role for a true partner in growth, requiring 8+ years of progressive accounting experience and a knack for building client relationships in St.

Louis. You will mentor Accounting Managers, help onboard new client accounts, and drive process improvements and internal controls while collaborating with ownership on strategic direction as the firm

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on full-cycle work.
• Experience leading or mentoring a team of accountants or accounting managers.
• Strong technical accounting skills: month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements.
• Proven ability to implement process improvements and internal controls.
• Track record of building client relationships and engaging in business development.
• Comfort in client-facing conversations and ownership mindset.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations across client engagements.
• Lead and mentor Accounting Managers.
• Support clients during onboarding and high-volume periods.
• Lead onboarding and cleanup for new client accounts.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls.
• Advise clients on cash flow, budgeting, forecasting.
• Participate in client conversations and relationship-building.
• Partner with ownership on operational strategy.
