Louis. You will mentor Accounting Managers, help onboard new client accounts, and drive process improvements and internal controls while collaborating with ownership on strategic direction as the firm

Qualificações

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on full-cycle work.
• Experience leading or mentoring a team of accountants or accounting managers.
• Strong technical accounting skills: month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements.
• Proven ability to implement process improvements and internal controls.
• Track record of building client relationships and engaging in business development.
• Comfort in client-facing conversations and ownership mindset.
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and ability to learn new software.

Job Description

The Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations for a portfolio of client businesses while also managing and mentoring a team of Accounting Managers. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will stay directly involved in client work, including supporting clients personally during high-volume periods and leading the onboarding and cleanup process for new client accounts.

Core responsibilities include:

• Managing full-cycle accounting oversight across multiple client engagements, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of Accounting Managers
• Personally supporting client accounts as needed, especially during onboarding, transitions, or team bandwidth constraints
• Identifying and implementing process improvements and internal controls across client engagements
• Serving as a trusted advisor to clients on higher-level financial matters such as cash flow strategy, budgeting, and forecasting
• Participating in client-facing conversations, including onboarding discussions and relationship-building with prospective clients
• Partnering with ownership on operational strategy as the company continues to grow

Qualifications

• 8 or more years of progressive accounting experience, including recent, hands-on full-cycle accounting work
• Prior experience managing or mentoring a team of accountants or accounting managers
• Strong technical accounting skills, including month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Demonstrated experience with process improvement and internal controls, with specific, concrete examples to share
• A genuine track record of building strong client relationships, not just delivering accurate numbers
• Comfortable participating in business development and client-facing conversations, not solely focused on back-office work
• A confident, proactive communication style and a natural sense of ownership
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and general comfort learning new accounting software platforms
