Job summary

APA Solutions is partnering with an established construction company to recruit a hands-on Controller. You will lead the accounting function, strengthen financial systems, and provide clear information that supports decisions across the business.

You will closely collaborate with ownership, drive process improvements, and develop the accounting team while connecting financial performance to field activities. CPA is a plus for the role.

Qualifications

• Progressive construction accounting or similar industry experience, including leadership as Controller or Accounting Manager.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, work-in-progress reporting, construction billing, and cash flow management.
• Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, financial controls, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and general ledger activity.
• Own the monthly close, reconciliations, and timely, accurate financial reporting.
• Monitor cash flow, oversee job costing and work-in-progress reporting, and help leaders understand project profitability.
• Partner with project teams to review budgets, billing, change orders, retainage, and costs to complete.
• Establish practical financial controls, clear procedures, and consistent accountability.
• Improve the use of FOUNDATION construction accounting software and reduce unnecessary manual work.
• Guide and develop accounting staff, clarify responsibilities, and establish backup coverage.
• Coordinate with outside accountants, banks, and bonding partners.
