Job summary

Lyndon Institute, Lyndon Center, Vermont, seeks a creative adjunct instructor for our Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering program. This part-time role delivers hands-on instruction in machining, 3D printing, CAD/CAM, and robotics, connecting classroom learning to industry practices.

The ideal candidate has a strong manufacturing/engineering background, doctrine in lean concepts, and a passion for mentoring students toward technical and professional success. Salary is paid per semester.

Qualifications

  • Valid Vermont teaching license with a CTE endorsement, or eligibility to obtain such licensure.
  • Significant practical experience in engineering, manufacturing, machining, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean principles, materials, engineering design, and industry safety practices.
  • Ability to safely operate and teach the use of machining equipment, CNC machinery, 3D printers, and other advanced manufacturing technologies. Relevant industry certifications are highly desirable.
  • Prior teaching, training, mentoring, or supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, robotics, materials science, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction in advanced manufacturing and engineering coursework.
  • Teach concepts related to manual and CNC machining, additive manufacturing (3D printing), engineering design, and CAD/CAM, based on the instructor’s expertise.
  • Guide students in the use of industry-standard software such as Fusion 360, SolidWorks, and/or Autodesk Inventor.
  • Design and facilitate project-based learning experiences that promote creativity, critical thinking, and engineering design.
  • Integrate industry best practices, including Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts, into classroom instruction.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to support student growth.
