Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is seeking an Accounting Manager for a hands-on, project-based business in the commercial construction sector. You will lead a three-person team, report to the owner, and drive the month-end close, financial reporting, and cash flow planning.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of accounting experience, strong QuickBooks Online skills, and a background in job-costing and construction project accounting. This on-site role offers growth in a private, owner-led environment.

Qualifications

5–10 years progressive accounting experience.
Strong QuickBooks Online experience.
Experience supervising accounting staff.
Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, GL, cash flow and financial reporting.
Construction/project accounting experience preferred.
Tech-savvy and able to adopt new software.
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Hands-on, able to work with an entrepreneurial owner.
Capability to lead and improve processes while handling details.

Responsibilities

Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations and a three-person accounting team.
Manage month-end close, general ledger and account reconciliations.
Oversee AP, AR, collections and customer billing.
Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting.
Monitor cash flow and prepare short-term cash-flow forecasts.
Strengthen job-costing and project-accounting processes.
Develop and maintain accounting controls.
Support budgeting and forecasting with the owner.
Work closely with project managers and project coordinators.
Identify opportunities to automate, streamline and improve accounting processes.
Coordinate with outside CPA and other financial partners.
