Job summary

MDS Staffing in Stockbridge, GA is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager– Commercial Construction / Project-Based Business to lead the accounting operations. The role reports directly to the owner in a privately held, growth-focused company and supervises a three-person team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities include month-end close, GL, AP/AR, cash flow management, and project costing.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience.
• Prior experience supervising or leading accounting staff.
• Strong understanding of AP, AR, reconciliations, GL, cash flow and financial reporting.
• Construction/project accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Highly tech-savvy and comfortable adopting new software and systems.
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting ops and a 3-person team.
• Manage month-end close, GL, reconciliations.
• Oversee AP, AR, collections and billing.
• Prepare financial statements and management reports.
• Monitor cash flow; build short-term forecasts.
• Improve job-costing and project accounting.
• Maintain accounting controls and compliance.
• Support budgeting with the owner.
• Coordinate with project managers and coordinators.
• Identify opportunities to automate and streamline processes.
• Coordinate with CPA and financial partners.
