Job summary

Hometown Grocers, Inc. in Merrill, WI seeks a Guest Services Clerk to support daily service-counter operations and strengthen guest relations through friendly, informed assistance.

You will respond to inquiries, help guests with purchases, process transactions, and handle exchanges or refunds. The role requires reliable attendance and a customer-first mindset.

Hours are hourly and may be part-time or full-time; weekend and holiday availability is often required.

Qualifications

• Minimum availability must include 16 hours a week with a minimum of 8 hours per day during available days.
• Ability to process information/merchandise through register system
• Ability to communicate with associates and guests
• Ability to read, count, and write accurately
• Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the job
• Knowledge of wide range of goods and services of Hometown Grocers
• Ability to deal with multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and guest service skills
• Should have sound practical judgment of priorities
• Interest in helping and working with guests

Responsibilities

• Takes ownership to take care of guest needs directly either face-to-face, electronically, or by telephone
• Responds to guest inquiries regarding offers, promotions, and events
• Resolves guest complaints by following store guidelines
• Processes transactions accurately and maintains cash/media at service counter
• Distributes tills and partners with cashiers to meet guest needs
• Records details of comments, inquiries, complaints, and actions taken
• Provides guests with exchanges, refunds, discounts, coupons, or other offers
• Performs guest verifications, processing orders, forms, and requests
• Hands additional service (e.g., DMV, Lottery, Rug Doctor, ticket sales)
• Directs unresolved issues to the appropriate resource
• Contributes to standards, procedures and policies for guest service
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Ensures quality standards are met at 100% by 10am and 5pm
• Maintains regular attendance and provides notice for absences
• Front End duties as needed
