Job summary

Hometown-Grocers, Inc. in Merrill, WI is seeking a Produce Clerk I for part-time hours to support the Produce Department Manager. This role emphasizes customer service, product handling, and adhering to company standards.

You will assist guests, stock displays, rotate products, take temperatures, and help maintain a clean, organized cooler. Regular attendance and the ability to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, are required.

Qualifications

• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel.
• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment.
• Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies.
• Must possess the ability to apply on-the-job safety training to recognize and react to possible safety hazards on store premises.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service to guests
• Assist guests with finding items they are looking for on or off the sales floor
• Takes orders and other special requests
• Answers the telephone and assists callers using proper phone etiquette
• Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues when a guest is not satisfied with the service or product received, if in need further assistance, bring concern to the Produce Department Manager
• Stocking and maintaining product levels
• Fill all items on display
• Makes sure products are rotated, using first in first out method
• Follow display standards
• Makes sure the sales floor is clean and tidy; no messes or spills
• Maintaining Produce supplies (i.e. roll bags, twist ties, etc.)
• Log Sheets
• Take temperatures of everything regularly
• Fill out rotation sheets daily
• Record shrink daily
• Maintain Produce Cooler
• Rotation of items within the cooler, first in-first out method
• Keeping the cooler clean and organized at all times
• Product Order
• Responsible for ordering some product (i.e. dips, spices, herbs, etc.)
• Other duties as assigned.
• Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences.
