Yoke's Fresh Market is hiring for a cashier/customer service associate in Spokane, WA. You will engage guests at checkout, provide friendly, efficient service, and promote current promotions while handling transactions accurately.

Position emphasizes a welcoming atmosphere, adherence to safety standards, and teamwork. High school diploma or GED preferred; experience welcome. Flexible shifts with opportunities for growth and employee benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with guests, vendors and fellow associates at all times.
• Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume.
• Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Manages problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Meets the state minimum requirement to sell tobacco and/or alcohol.
• Valid Driver's License or State I.D. Card

Responsibilities

• Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties.
• Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information.
• Scanning to record price, or entering prices and departments for non-scannable items, subtotaling taxable items, and totaling purchases using register system.
• Tendering cash, personal checks, WIC checks, travelers checks, Canadian currency, vouchers, charges, and credit, debit, or EBT card payments for our guests' purchases.
• Counting back guests' change for all cash transactions.
