Job summary

Yoke’s Fresh Market in Spokane is seeking a deli associate to deliver friendly, efficient service and uphold hospitality standards. You will greet guests, prepare and present fresh deli items, and support daily operations with accuracy and care.

Responsibilities include handling food safely, operating slicers and equipment, restocking displays, and assisting with promotions while ensuring guest satisfaction and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Skills: Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Communicates effectively and pleasantly with guests, vendors and fellow associates at all times.
• Mathematical Skills: Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume.
• Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Manages problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Other Qualifications: Meets the state minimum requirement to work with slicers or other deli equipment and tools.
• Certificates & Licenses: Valid State Food Handlers Permit; Valid Driver's License or State I.D. Card
• Yoke’s Provided Training: Active Shooter; Deli Skills Training levels One, Two, and Three; Food Handler’s Safety Training; HIPAA Training; Late Night Retail Safety Training; Yoke’s Safety Orientation Training / Active Shooter; Yoke’s Guest Service Training & Commitment (Optional: Hepatitis A vaccination provided by Yoke’s Pharmacy)

Responsibilities

• Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safety perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service.
• Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information.
• Providing exceptional service by greeting guests, and informing them of special features, product information, and services offered by the deli, including preparing food for daily business and making sandwiches to order.
• Operating equipment safely (slicer, grill, oven, coffee brewer, cash register, etc.).
• Communicating and completing guests’ special order requests with accuracy and timeliness.
• Mentoring new associates or associates who are new to the department or task and assuring a positive learning environment.
• Ensuring compliance with safety, sanitation, and policy standards during all tasks.
• Participating in accident reduction and safety initiatives within the department.
