Job summary

Hilltop Ski Area in Anchorage, AK, seeks a Mountain Host for the 26/27 winter season. The role is a seasonal, hourly position designed to greet guests, share information about programs, and keep the guest area welcoming and safe.

The Mountain Host will assist with events, enforce safety policies, and support lodge operations while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor. A flexible schedule, outdoors work, and TAPs certification are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred; six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
• Current TAPs Certification (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods.
• Flexible schedule availability, including early mornings, split shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to provide a valid driving record upon request.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally with management, team members, and guests.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
• Strong self-management skills; able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and use time/resources effectively.

Responsibilities

• Warmly greet all guests upon arrival and departure.
• Provide accurate and up-to-date information about Hilltop Ski Area’s programs, events, amenities, and schedules.
• Address guest inquiries and concerns in a professional, timely, and solution-oriented manner to ensure satisfaction.
• Promote a positive atmosphere by encouraging participation in events and activities.
• Support and enforce Hilltop’s alcohol policies in accordance with AMCO and local municipal regulations.
• Follow and model proper use of PPE when required.
• Maintain knowledge of and respond to Hilltop conditions, trends, and emergency procedures as needed.
• Assist in keeping the lodge and surrounding guest areas clean and presentable throughout the day.
• Wipe down tables, chairs, and other high-touch surfaces regularly.
• Clean and restock restrooms with paper products, soap, and other supplies.
• Remove and dispose of trash from indoor and outdoor receptacles
• Vacuum, sweep, and ensure cleanliness is maintained to Hilltop standards.
• Collaborate with all departments to enhance the guest experience.
• Provide support for special events, group visits, and other on-site activities.
• Actively engage with the team to share ideas for improvements and efficiencies.
• Model a culture of teamwork, respect, and fun.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
