Job summary

Tiki Tatsu-Ya in Austin, TX is seeking an energetic Host to greet guests, manage seating, and ensure a warm, efficient dining experience. You will coordinate arrivals, communicate wait times, and support the front-of-house team during peak hours.

Ideal candidates are 18+, possess valid food handler and TABC certificates, and can stand for long periods while lifting up to 50 lbs. Training and advancement opportunities are available in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• Valid food handler and TABC certificates.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lift 25-50 lbs.
• Prolonged periods of standing and navigating the restaurant environment.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to stay organized and professional under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and provide friendly, welcoming service from the moment they arrive.
• Manage guest arrivals, walk-ins, and wait times while keeping guests informed throughout their visit.
• Review the floor chart and covers for the shift, including large parties, to maximize table turns and seating efficiency.
• Accurately quote wait times and keep the seating chart updated throughout the shift.
• Communicate large parties, special requests, allergies, and dietary restrictions to managers, servers, and kitchen staff.
• Work closely with the FOH and kitchen teams to keep service running smoothly, especially during busy periods.
• Anticipate guest needs and handle questions or concerns quickly and professionally.
• Jump in and support other team members when needed without waiting to be asked.
• Maintain a clean and organized host stand, dining room, and restaurant environment throughout the shift.
• Regularly check restrooms for cleanliness and restocking.
• Complete all side work and check out with the Manager on Duty before leaving to make sure all shift responsibilities are finished.
