Job summary

American Girl in Chicago's AG Retail is seeking a friendly restaurant host to greet guests, manage seating and reservations, and support the dining room team. You’ll create a warm, organized guest experience in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with children is preferred; you should be comfortable with POS systems and MS Office. Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a restaurant host or similar customer service role.
• Proficient with restaurant reservation systems and Microsoft Office.
• Experience working with children (preferred).
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests promptly and seat them using waitlists, maximizing seating capacity.
• Manage large crowds and resolve service situations diplomatically.
• Create a pleasant dining ambience with lighting, music, and table placement.
• Communicate seating plans and birthday information to the restaurant team.
• Share information on store and restaurant events with guests.
• Use Zomato reservation, InfoGenesis, and MS Office to perform duties.
• Initiate training opportunities with restaurant staff.
• Assist staff to deliver an outstanding dining experience.
