Job summary

Extended Stay America is seeking a Maintenance Technician to ensure guest rooms and property are well maintained, safe, and in top condition. Responsibilities include completing work orders, performing preventive maintenance, and upholding Green Shield standards.

The role requires the ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, and respond promptly to guest requests while maintaining a clean, organized maintenance area and coordinating with vendors as needed.

Qualifications

• Reads and speaks English proficiently; interacts with guests, associates and vendors.
• Understands safety rules, maintenance instructions and company guidelines.
• Writes routine reports and correspondence.
• Performs arithmetic using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Uses measurement units for weight, volume and distance.
• Exhibits good judgment at all times.
• Assists with resolving guest issues per policy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates commitment to guest and associate experience and adheres to company standards.
• Performs tasks with minimal supervision and meets expectations.
• Responds to guest requests with follow-through per procedures.
• Performs out-of-room cleaning to keep the property pristine, including exterior and interior areas.
• Repairs items listed on work orders promptly and professionally.
• Conducts preventive maintenance inspections and repairs.
• Follows Green Shield Inspection schedule to complete tasks on time.
• Maintains records per Green Shield Binder (deficiencies, inspections, logs).
• Follows Green Shield Schedule workflow and uses SOPs as reference.
• Keeps maintenance area clean and secures all tools; maintains inventory.
• Maintains boiler rooms, electric/HVAC/fire sprinkler rooms per standards and ordinances.
• Ensures fire safety equipment is operable and inspections are current.
• Complies with ESA safety and security policies, OSHA and ADA.
• Maintains pool/spa where applicable per ESA policies.
• Responds to emergencies at property or sister sites when directed.
• Monitors and coordinates with outside vendors as directed.
• Assists with cleaning hotel areas as needed and maintains overall hotel cleanliness.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
