Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is hiring a Store Cashier/Checker in Oakland, CA, to deliver outstanding customer service at the register and in-store. You will greet customers, process transactions, and follow POS procedures while upholding safety and store policies.

The role requires strong math skills, the ability to handle various payment methods, and adherence to loss-prevention guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Position Qualifications: Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Desired Previous Job Experience: Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders per policy (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, loyalty offers, coupons).
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss prevention policies.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Stay current with ads and promotions and maintain safety and cleanliness in the area.
