Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies in Santa Maria, CA is seeking a diligent Cashier/Checker to greet customers, process transactions, and maintain a welcoming store environment. You will handle diverse tender types, follow cash handling policies, and ensure compliance with safety and food handling guidelines.

Ideal candidates have basic math skills and prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk. The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy, and a positive customer experience at a fast-paced grocery

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle tender types (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons)
• Adhere to cash handling limits and company policy to control loss
• Follow policies for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
• Adhere to food safety regulations and safety programs
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify store management
• Provide helpful product information to customers throughout the store
