Job summary

Blue Bottle Coffee is seeking a Cafe Leader in San Jose, CA to build an engaged team and deliver exceptional hospitality. You will coach and mentor staff, ensure top-tier guest experiences, and oversee scheduling, payroll, and day-to-day cafe operations.

You will champion safety, sustainability, and profitability while collaborating with cross-functional teams to create memorable visits for our guests and strengthen community ties.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail/hospitality experience
• 2+ years of leadership for 10+ people
• Proven experience hiring, training, and developing team members
• Barista training and validation per Blue Bottle Academy or will complete within 90 days post-hire
• Food Safety Certification for the state you will be working in and for your role, or will obtain within 30 days post-hire
• Strong understanding of a profit and loss statement and how to impact it
• Comfort using Google Drive tools (Sheets, Docs, Calendar)
• This is an on-site position; flexible schedule and availability mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, inspire, and retain a team with coaching and performance management
• Lead from the front to ensure exceptional guest experiences
• Manage day-to-day cafe operations including scheduling, payroll review, and banking procedures
• Set high performance bars for sales, guest satisfaction, and cafe goals
• Support sustainability goals and environmental responsibility
• Maintain safety and respect, fostering collaboration and creativity
• Collaborate with other Blue Bottle teams and Area Leader on community initiatives
• Uphold quality standards for beverages and food items
• Manage Cafe P&L to align with sales, budget, and strategic targets
• Address team concerns to maintain a harmonious workplace
