Job summary

Blue Bottle Coffee is seeking a Cafe Leader to build and nurture a high-performing team, deliver outstanding hospitality, and manage daily cafe operations with a focus on consistency, quality, and safety.

You will coach and mentor staff, manage schedules and payroll, and drive sales while aligning with sustainability goals. This on-site role requires a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of retail/hospitality experience with a strong preference for coffee, food, and beverage.
• 2+ years of leadership experience leading a team of 10+ people.
• Proven experience in hiring, training, and developing team members.
• Completed Blue Bottle Academy’s Barista training and validation program or will complete it within 90 days post-hire.
• Existing Food Safety Certification required for the state you will be working in and for your specific role, or will obtain it within 30 days post-hire.
• Strong understanding of a profit and loss statement and how to impact it.
• Comfort using Google Drive tools (Sheets, Docs, Calendar).
• This is an on-site position; you must have a flexible schedule and be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to smell and taste; you’re tasting and smelling coffee and food to ensure quality control.
• The role is performed in an environment with exposure to food/beverage prep conditions and cold spaces.

Responsibilities

• Build, develop, and retain an incredible team through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
• Lead from the front to ensure guests enjoy exceptional experiences and memorable visits.
• Oversee day-to-day cafe operations including ordering, scheduling, payroll reviews, and financial oversight.
• Set high performance standards and drive targets in sales and guest satisfaction.
• Motivate the team to contribute toward sustainability goals and environmental responsibility.
• Foster a safe, respectful, and collaborative work culture.
• Collaborate with other Blue Bottle teams and Area Leaders on community initiatives.
• Uphold high quality standards for beverages and food items, training team accordingly.
• Ensure health, food safety, and general safety guidelines are followed.
• Manage Cafe Profit and Loss in alignment with sales and budget goals.
• Address team concerns proactively to maintain a harmonious work environment.
