Job summary

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking an Ambassador to represent the Museum to the public through direct interaction with visitors and Members. You will provide a warm, hospitable experience, assist with admissions and memberships, and help manage crowd flow across indoor and outdoor spaces.

Daily tasks include greeting guests, answering questions, selling tickets and memberships using the Tessitura system, and staying informed about current exhibitions and programs.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in customer focused and service-related industries.
• Exceptional customer service skills and passion for the arts.
• Must be available to work weekends and holiday periods.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm welcoming presence for museum members and visitors.
• Learn POS system to sell admission, process group bookings, and sell memberships.
• Assist with crowd control indoors and outdoors, guiding visitors to queues and spaces.
• Greet guests, respond to questions, and resolve general complaints on site.
• Stay up to date with exhibitions, programs, and campaigns; attend daily updates and training.
• Scan admission tickets at entry and events; maintain station with maps and printed information.
• Assist with Special events and distribute assistive listening devices as needed.
• Facilitate visitor adoption of the virtual queuing system for select exhibitions.
• Process Member transactions in Tessitura and update back-of-house reporting.
