Job summary

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Guardianship Services Program is seeking a Guardianship Specialist I in Abilene, TX. The role provides 24/7 service coordination for individuals under guardianship, ensuring health and safety and determining least restrictive alternatives.

Responsibilities include preparing legal documents for court filings, testifying in hearings, and coordinating with HHSC guardianship attorneys.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and interest in guardianship work.
• Willing to travel up to 75% as required by the role.
• Valid driver's license required and able to use personal vehicle for agency business.
• Must pass background checks and achieve JBCC certification within first year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Attend regular and on-call coverage, including nights and weekends as needed.
• Assess guardianship needs and coordinate life aspects for the person under guardianship.
• Document case notes, plans, and court-related documents in agency systems.
• Manage estates/financial affairs as ordered by the court and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
