Job summary

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), Guardianship Services Program (GSP), seeks a Guardianship Specialist I to provide 24/7 service coordination for individuals under HHSC guardianship. This role involves assessing needs, preparing court documents, testifying, and coordinating placement and care.

Eligible for telework under HHSC policy; travel up to 75%; requires a valid driver's license and a bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of case management or regulatory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Must be willing to travel up to 75%.
• Must be able to work on-call and outside normal hours, including nights/weekends.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Minimum 2 years of professional case management experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in interpretation or analysis of state or federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provides on-call coverage outside regular business hours; coordinates all aspects of a person under guardianship’s life.
• Visits the person monthly; arranges shelter and basic health and safety needs; oversees medical and psychiatric care.
• Documents monthly status contacts and creates required documentation in agency data system.
• Maintains relationships with court staff, attorneys, and stakeholders; testifies in court as needed.
• Manages the estate and financial affairs when applicable and ensures laws are followed.
