Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco is seeking an Applied Data Science & Insights Lead for GTM Intelligence Solutions and Technical Success. You will be a hands‑on technical leader responsible for shaping how OpenAI measures, understands, and improves customer adoption across our B2B products.

You will build AI/ML‑powered intelligence products connecting account health, product usage, lifecycle, and field actions into a practical operating system for GTM and Technical Success.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in applied data science, analytics, or a closely related field.
• Strong SQL and Python skills with production‑quality models and metrics.
• Solid background in statistical modeling and causal inference.
• Experience with propensity score / uplift modeling for adoption or retention.
• Experience building production data products for GTM, sales, or enterprise SaaS.
• Product intuition to translate ambiguous questions into repeatable models and tools.
• Excellent communication to distill analysis into actionable recommendations.
• Ability to hire, develop, and lead data science teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead the roadmap for GTM Intelligence and Technical Success insight products.
• Build the data science foundation, including core metrics, health definitions, and playbook analytics.
• Develop propensity score models to identify adoption opportunities and interventions.
• Build, mentor, and lead a small data science team as the function scales.
• Set technical standards for modeling, experimentation, and production readiness.
• Create team operating rhythms balancing urgent needs with durable execution.
• Design next‑best‑action systems to identify opportunities and required playbooks.
• Partner with leaders to enumerate playbooks and measure outcomes over time.
• Develop customer segmentation and benchmarking frameworks across products and lifecycle stages.
• Create scalable insight products embedded in field workflows.
