Job summary

OpenAI in San Francisco is seeking a GSOC Operator to monitor security systems, respond to incidents, and provide real-time support to employees and partners worldwide. This role requires shift coverage across nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operation.

You will manage access control, video surveillance, alarms, and emergency notifications, while documenting events and following established procedures to improve playbooks and workflows within a collaborative, resilient security team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in GSOC, corporate security, or protective operations or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Military or law enforcement experience may substitute for GSOC experience.
• Hands-on experience with access control and video management systems (e.g., Genetec).
• Proficiency with Slack, Jira, Google Workspace, and incident documentation workflows.
• Familiarity with travel risk monitoring tools is a plus.
• Experience with emergency mass notification systems and AI-enabled security tools is helpful.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to stay composed under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Monitor access control, video surveillance, alarms, and security tech.
• Communicate with internal partners via Slack, Jira, and tools.
• Identify, assess, respond to security alerts and incidents; escalate as needed.
• Support emergency notifications and mass communication during crises.
• Provide global travel monitoring and situational awareness.
• Maintain detailed logs and documentation of security events.
• Follow procedures and improve playbooks and workflows.
• Deliver excellent service to employees, visitors, vendors, and partners.
• Participate in training, drills, and skill development to stay ready.
