Job summary

GCyber is seeking a Communications Systems Operator Liaison (CSO Liaison) to support a high-profile Air Force mission aboard Joint Base Andrews, MD. This full-time, on-site role requires active TS clearance and extensive experience with airborne mission communications systems.

You will assist in flight operations, incident response, and provide troubleshooting guidance to on-board personnel. The CSO Liaison collaborates with GSOC leadership, utilizes Mattermost for in-flight support, and helps

Responsibilities

  • Track executive aircraft and respond to communications incidents.
  • Provide troubleshooting guidance to on-board CSOs during Mission Communications System issues.
  • Advise GSOC leadership on Mission Communications System operations aboard aircraft.
  • Use Mattermost and chat tools to support aircraft in flight.
  • Review flight monitoring tools and SATCOM portals and suggest improvements.
  • Support trend analysis of communications incidents to identify recurring problems.

Job description

GCyber is hiring a Communications Systems Operator (CSO) Liaison to work in the security operations center supporting a high-profile Air Force mission. The CSO Liaison tracks aircraft in flight, responds to communications incidents, and provides troubleshooting guidance directly to the Communications Systems Operators on board.

This position is full time onsite at Joint Base Andrews, MD, supports a 24/7/365 operation. Given the classified nature of the work and the mission essential designation of this position, there is no opportunity for hybrid or remote work.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

As the Communication Systems Operator (CSO) Liaison, you will:
  • Track and assist executive aircraft in flight with communications issues and respond to incident calls.
  • Provide troubleshooting guidance to Communications Systems Operators on board C-32, C-40, and C-37 aircraft during Mission Communications System problems and outages.
  • Advise GSOC leadership on the operation of the Mission Communications System aboard those aircraft.
  • Use command and control tools and chat software, such as Mattermost, to support aircraft in flight.
  • Review the flight monitoring tools the GSOC uses, including commercial SATCOM provider portals, and recommend improvements.
  • Support trend analysis of communications incidents to identify recurring problems.

This position requires subject matter expertise with airborne mission communications systems. See the qualifications below for the specific aircraft.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
  • Active DoD TOP SECRET clearance
  • Subject matter expertise with the Mission Communications Systems (MCS) of the C-32A, C-40B/C, and/or C-37A/B aircraft
  • DoD 8140/8570 IA baseline certification.
  • 5+ years operating, maintaining, or sustaining airborne communications systems, including SATCOM voice and data.
  • Prior service as an airborne Communications Systems Operator, or equivalent experience, on executive airlift or similar aircraft.
  • Experience working real-time incidents to a 15-minute response standard.
Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Former USAF Airborne Mission Systems or Airborne Communications Systems Operator (AFSC 1A3X1 or equivalent).
  • Prior assignment to the 89th Airlift Wing, 89th Communications Squadron, or the SLC3S-A mission.
  • Working knowledge of commercial SATCOM provider monitoring portals.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation and ServiceNow incident management experience.
