Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Medical Assistant to join its OB/GYN team in Washington, PA. The role involves back and front office duties with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm and occasional later days. No evenings, weekends, or holidays are required.

Experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred. Training will place you on the Medical Assistant Career Ladder based on experience and education. CPR/BLS and Act 34 clearances are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program, or a minimum of one year of direct patient care experience is preferred.
• Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, and schedule appointments; verify insurance coverage and demographics.
• Prepare patient rooms and equipment; maintain infection control and clean as per protocol; manage supplies.
