Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience as Medical Assistant preferred.
• Must adhere to HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
• Under direction, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals; schedule appointments; verify insurance and demographics.
• Prepare patient rooms and equipment; maintain infection control; restock supplies.
• Check schedules and manage patient flow; escort patients to exam rooms; assist with movements and vitals per provider guidance.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist physicians; document in medical records.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health; maintain confidentiality; follow UPMC policies.
• Under supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
