Job summary

R.E. Michel Company in Columbus, OH is hiring for a Warehouse/Counter Service role. This full-time, non-exempt position supports branch operations by handling customer service, invoicing, loading orders, and maintaining safety with MHE.

The role includes processing returns and warranties, managing paperwork, and assisting deliveries as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, basic HVAC parts knowledge, and proficiency with Prophet 21.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of Heating and Cooling systems, parts and supplies.
• Excellent verbal communication with the public and customers.
• Excellent attitude and interpersonal skills for service.
• Proficient computer skills with Prophet 21.
• Ability to read invoices, catalogs, stock numbers and descriptions.

Responsibilities

• Provide fast and friendly customer service by following Customer First standards, in person or over the telephone.
• Greet customers upon entry to the branch.
• Ensure commitments made to customers are met or exceeded.
• Pull customer orders from warehouse and load into trucks or for pickup with safe handling.
• Prepare accurate paperwork including invoices, CODs, special orders, vendor POs and shipping/receiving documents.
• Ensure all products leaving the branch are billed; collect payments by cash or card following money handling procedures.
• Process customer returns and warranties the same day they are received.
• Operate lift truck or other MHE safely; maintain equipment.
• Report damage, safety issues and accidents to supervisor promptly.
• Perform warehouse duties and maintain appearance of warehouse and facility.
• Maintain yard/parking area and report discrepancies.
• Verify incoming orders by counting before stocking to prevent damage.
• Process shipments via UPS and assist with deliveries when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
