Charles IT in Middletown, CT is seeking a Jr Systems Administrator to join our growing IT team. You will be the first line of support for tickets escalated to the team and help ensure our IT infrastructure runs smoothly while building a foundation for advanced responsibilities.

The role requires an associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT and 2+ years in MSP or internal IT. Certifications like CompTIA A+ / Network+ are preferred; travel to client sites may be needed.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in MSP or internal IT/technical support.
• Preferred certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Server+, CySA+, MS-900, AZ-900, ISC2 Cybersecurity.
• Excellent communication and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
• Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
• Support operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Manage user accounts using Active Directory.
• Assist with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Provide basic networking support (IP configuration, DNS, VPN).
• Configure, install, and support desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
• Coordinate with third-party vendors and IT teams for repairs, updates, and troubleshooting.
• Provide timely, professional support to end users.
• Explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
• Maintain accurate documentation and time entries.
• Build strong relationships with clients and ensure high satisfaction.
• Handle user concerns calmly and professionally, including de-escalation.
• Other duties as assigned.
