Job summary

Charles IT is hiring a Jr Systems Administrator in Chesapeake, VA. You will serve as the first line of IT support after escalation, ensuring reliable IT operations while laying the foundation for advanced responsibilities.

Responsibilities include diagnosing hardware/software/network issues, supporting Windows/Linux/macOS, managing Active Directory, and coordinating with vendors to resolve problems. Strong communication and independent work mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in MSP or IT support environments.
• Preferred certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Server+, CySA+, MS-900, AZ-900, ISC2 cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
• Support Windows, Linux, and macOS.
• Manage user accounts using Active Directory.
• Assist with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Provide basic networking support (IP configuration, DNS, VPN).
• Configure, install, and support desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.

• Communicate clearly to non-technical users.
• Maintain accurate documentation and time entries.

Due to growth, we are currently seeking to add a Jr Systems Administrator to our exceptional team. The Jr Systems Administrator is responsible for taking the first level tickets once escalated to the team. In thisrole it is vital in ensuring the IT infrastructure runs smoothly while building a foundation for more advanced responsibilities in the future.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues

• Support operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and macOS

• Manage user accounts using tools like Active Directory

• Assist with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting

• Provide basic networking support (IP configuration, DNS, VPN)

• Configure, install, and support desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals

• Coordinate with third-party vendors and IT teams for repairs, updates, and troubleshooting

• Provide timely, professional support to end users

• Communicate clearly and explain technical issues to non-technical users

• Maintain accurate documentation and time entries

• Build strong relationships with clients and ensure high satisfaction

• Handle user concerns calmly and professionally, including de-escalation

• Other duties as assigned.

• An associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

• 2+ years of experience working in an MSP, internal IT environment, or a similar technical support setting.

• Preferred certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Server+, CySA+, MS-900, AZ-900, ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity

• Strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate effectively within a fast-paced, client-focused team.

• Ability to travel to client sites as needed

• Enthusiastic about taking on challenges in a growing company with a diverse client base.

• Self-driven and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
