Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a PE-backed growth organization to appoint a Controller in the Chicago area. This highly visible role reports to the CFO and leads core accounting, close, and reporting while enabling scalable processes across the finance function.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of accounting leadership, ERP experience (NetSuite/Sage Intacct), and a track record of improving controls and automation in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibilities.
• Experience within private equity-backed or high-growth environments preferred.
• Must be able to commute to the Chicago office on a flexible basis.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee general accounting, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Support external audits and coordinate key accounting deliverables.
• Handle technical accounting matters, including purchase accounting for acquisitions.
• Partner cross-functionally to improve processes and reporting capabilities.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement across the accounting function.
• Support ERP optimization and scalable accounting infrastructure.
• Develop and grow the accounting team as the organization expands.
