Job summary

LHH is partnering with a high-growth, PE-backed organization to hire an Assistant Controller to serve as the right hand to the Regional Controller and help lead the accounting function through a period of significant growth and transformation.

This role is not a traditional back-office accounting position; it requires someone who rolls up their sleeves, builds structure, and drives operational results in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong GL and month-end close ownership experience.
• Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Controller-level leadership experience.
• Background in operational industries such as manufacturing, industrial services, construction, logistics, transportation, or energy.
• Experience managing accounting, AP, AR, and collections teams.
• Strong analytical skills with experience explaining financial results and variances.
• A process-improvement mindset and ability to thrive in environments that need structure.

Responsibilities

• Own and help lead the month-end close process across multiple business units.
• Manage accounting, AP, AR/collections, and billing-related functions.
• Partner with operations leaders to analyze performance, improve profitability, and drive accountability.
• Lead process improvement and automation initiatives in a highly manual environment.
• Assist with KPI development, reporting enhancements, and operational analytics.
• Play a key role in a large-scale systems transformation and automation effort.
• Mentor and develop accounting staff while helping build a scalable finance organization.
