Job summary

Vernovis in Cincinnati seeks a Business Development Manager to spearhead growth in custom branded environments, from prospecting to closing deals with architects and executives. You will navigate specs, collaborate with Design, Engineering, Estimating, and Operations to craft tailored solutions and drive new business in a competitive market.

The role demands a 5+ year track record in BD or consultative sales within retail décor or architectural products, and a willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in new business development or consultative sales within retail décor, store fixtures, millwork, signage, branded environments, architectural products, or commercial interiors.
• Ability to independently generate and close new business without reliance on warm leads or account handoffs.
• Strong expertise interpreting architectural and construction plans, specs, and drawings.
• Exceptional relationship-building and face-to-face sales skills with executive-level decision-makers.
• Consultative sales approach with strong communication, presentation, and negotiation proficiency.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize independently.
• Valid driver’s license with ability and willingness to travel as needed.
• Ability to commute to the Northern Cincinnati area.

Responsibilities

• Own the full business development cycle—from prospecting and networking to closing new contracts—without handed leads or accounts.
• Build a robust sales pipeline through cold outreach, referrals, trade shows, and industry events.
• Present and sell custom solutions to architects, interior designers, developers, brand managers, and executive decision-makers.
• Read and interpret architectural plans, lighting and fixture drawings, construction documents, and related specs to tailor proposals.
• Collaborate with Design, Engineering, Estimating, and Operations teams to create compelling, custom client solutions.
• Provide strategic input on market trends, trade shows, marketing initiatives, and vertical expansion opportunities.
• Represent the company at industry events and stay informed on competitor activities and emerging verticals.
• Manage accurate forecasting and CRM pipeline updates, leading negotiations to close deals.
