Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Group Leader for an Analysis group within the Applied Engineering Mechanics (AEM) Section. The role leads technical and strategic directions, overseeing nonlinear finite element analysis for structural and material responses under complex loading conditions to support national security missions.

Active DOE Q clearance or Top Secret clearance is required at hire.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.
• Advanced experience with finite element tools (ParaDyn, Diablo, ALE3D, Abaqus, Ansys) or similar.
• Experience in nuclear weapon system design, requirements, and materials.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative leadership, supervision, direction, and strategic guidance to the group.
• Recruit, hire, and develop staff to meet staffing needs through active engagement in hiring, performance, and salary management.
• Leverage advanced engineering analysis for the national security programs and weapon stockpile related missions.
• Ensure quality of work and coordinate with project leaders to meet technical goals and performance objectives.
• Interface with other groups to identify collaboration opportunities and plan group meetings.
