Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) seeks a Group Leader for an analysis group in the Applied Engineering Mechanics (AEM) Section within the Computational Engineering Division (CED). You will provide administrative and technical leadership, guide staff, and leverage advanced FE tools to support national security missions.

Telework may be authorized at LLNL’s discretion; onsite work requirements and policy may change.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Active DOE Q-level or Top Secret clearance at hire.
• Advanced experience in engineering analysis: structural mechanics, elasticity, plasticity, material behavior, heat transfer, hydrodynamics.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects, including design reviews and safety assessments.
• Experience with finite element tools: ParaDyn, Diablo, ALE3D, Abaqus, Ansys.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative leadership, supervision, direction, and support to the group.
• Recruit, hire, and develop staff to meet staffing needs and career development.
• Leverage advanced technical knowledge to support national security missions and weapon stockpile analyses.
• Ensure quality of work and promote teamwork; track progress toward goals.
• Lead monthly group meetings and coordinate with other groups to drive technical directions.
