Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting a Group Financial Controller for a prominent mining group headquartered in Welkom, Free State. The role oversees group financial reporting, consolidation, treasury, and compliance, with a focus on strategic leadership and risk management.

The ideal candidate brings a CA(SA) or equivalent, 10+ years in financial management including at least 5 years in a group controller role, and strong experience in IFRS, audits, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a group financial controller or similar senior role.
• Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent is essential.
• Extensive experience with financial consolidation, IFRS, and statutory reporting.
• Proven track record implementing and managing internal controls.
• Experience in mining or heavy industry is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all group financial reporting, incl. consolidation of subsidiaries' financial statements.
• Develop and maintain robust internal control systems across the group.
• Manage treasury, cash flow management and banking relationships.
• Ensure IFRS compliance and statutory reporting.
• Lead annual budgeting and financial forecasting for the group.
• Coordinate external audits and tax advisors for audits and filings.
• Provide strategic financial advice and analysis to the board and senior management.
• Monitor financial performance against budget and identify improvement areas.
• Develop and manage the finance team and foster a high-performance culture.
• Oversee risk management and financial risk mitigation strategies.
