Job summary

A prominent mining group headquartered in Welkom, Free State, is seeking an experienced Group Financial Controller. This executive role oversees the group's financial management, reporting, and compliance, providing strategic leadership across consolidation, controls, budgeting, and risk management.

The ideal candidate will have a CA(SA) or equivalent, a Master's in Accounting or Finance, 10+ years of financial leadership (5+ as group FC), and mining sector exposure.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CA(SA) or equivalent is essential.
• 10+ years of progressive financial management experience, 5+ in group financial controller or similar senior role.
• Extensive experience in financial consolidation, IFRS, and statutory reporting.
• Proven track record in implementing and managing internal controls.
• Mining or heavy industry sector experience is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in financial ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial insights and drive performance.
• Experience in managing external audits and tax compliance for a group structure.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all group financial reporting, including consolidation of subsidiaries' financial statements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems across the group.
• Manage the group's treasury functions, including cash flow management and banking relationships.
• Ensure IFRS and statutory regulations compliance.
• Lead the annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes for the group.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors for audits and filings.
• Provide strategic financial advice to the board and senior management.
• Monitor financial performance against budget and identify improvement areas.
• Develop and manage the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Oversee risk management and implement financial risk mitigation strategies.
