Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee all group financial reporting, incl. consolidation of subsidiaries' financial statements.
• Develop and maintain robust internal control systems across the group.
• Manage treasury, cash flow management and banking relationships.
• Ensure IFRS compliance and statutory reporting.
• Lead annual budgeting and financial forecasting for the group.
• Coordinate external audits and tax advisors for audits and filings.
• Provide strategic financial advice and analysis to the board and senior management.
• Monitor financial performance against budget and identify improvement areas.
• Develop and manage the finance team and foster a high-performance culture.
• Oversee risk management and financial risk mitigation strategies.

About the Role

A prominent mining group headquartered in Welkom , Free State, is actively seeking an experienced and strategic Group Financial Controller. This executive-level position is responsible for the overall financial management and reporting of the group, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and providing strategic financial leadership. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in group financial consolidations, robust internal controls, and a deep understanding of the mining industry's financial intricacies within the Welkom economic region. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all group financial reporting, including consolidation of subsidiaries' financial statements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems across the group.
• Manage the group's treasury functions, including cash flow management and banking relationships.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (IFRS) and statutory regulations.
• Lead the annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes for the group.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure timely and accurate audits and filings.
• Provide strategic financial advice and analysis to the board of directors and senior management.
• Monitor financial performance against budget and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• A qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent is essential.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a group financial controller or similar senior role.
• Extensive experience in financial consolidation, IFRS, and statutory reporting.
• Proven track record in implementing and managing internal controls.
• Experience within the mining or heavy industry sector is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in financial ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic financial insights and drive business performance.
• Experience in managing external audits and tax compliance for a group structure.
