Job summary

YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking a full-time Group Exercise Instructor to lead and support engaging classes for participants. You will promote health, safety, and community well-being while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all members.

You will greet participants, take attendance, and adapt sessions to individual needs. The role emphasizes reliability, professional conduct, and ongoing participation in training opportunities offered by the YMCA.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(s) required.
• Possess and maintains at least one current Group Exercise certificate of completion or specialty certificate from a reputable organization for each specialized group modality.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous and professional manner.
• Be a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude.
• All scheduled classes will be held, and sub coverage secured.
• Classes will start and end on time.
• Greet participants and learn their names.
• Take class attendance.
• Familiarize yourself with Upace Group Ex technology (sub tracking, class contact feature, class cancellation).
• Check and respond promptly to YMCA email.
• Identify participants' limitations and adapt classes or provide modifications accordingly.
• Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class.
• Promote a healthy lifestyle.
• Attend advanced training workshops offered throughout the year by YMCA of Greater Brandywine.
• Participate in special events and open houses.
• Ensure compliance with YGBW policies and SOPs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
