Job summary

HNTB in Oakland, CA is seeking a senior leader to direct a large toll technology group and oversee multiple projects nationwide. You will manage priorities, staffing, and staff assignments to deliver high‑quality service to clients across the country.

Responsibilities include supervising 25–40 staff across two or more technical disciplines, meeting targets, fostering professional development, building strong client relationships, and guiding staff recruitment and performance reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with 12 years of practical experience including 4 years of supervisory experience
• In lieu of degree, 16 years of relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Provides technical and operational supervision to a large group of professionals in two or more technical discipline areas.
• Ensures the technical, administrative, direct labor and schedule targets for the group are met.
• Responsible for the management, performance, growth and professional development of the full technical group. Coordinates section activities establishes priorities and staff to jobs.
• Builds strong client relationships with new and existing clients, leveraging those relationships to generate opportunities for new work.
• Establishes goals and objectives, assesses performance and provides on-going feedback. Takes a leadership role in understanding the client needs, balancing needs of HNTB and employees.
• Recruits, hires, develops and retains group's staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.
• Leads a group including the direct and indirect supervision of at least 25 but typically 35-40 or more employees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
