Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Groundsperson to support the crew by performing ground-based tree and brush clearing as directed and handling site clean-up.

Responsibilities include following safety rules, operating chainsaws and pruners, loading logs, driving trucks, and coordinating with foreperson. Travel for storm restoration may be required; a valid driver's license and physical stamina are essential.

Qualifications

• Must possess physical strength and balance to drag heavy limbs and operate tools in uneven terrain.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
• Must travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.

Responsibilities

• Clear brush and trees from ground as directed and perform site clean-up.
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into a brush chipper.
• Drive truck or operate other equipment as assigned.
• Set up and break down road signs; flag traffic to protect workers and public.
• Maintain and service tools and equipment; report major repairs to Foreperson.
